Fireworks from the roof; Summer art camp for kids

Fireworks from the roof

You’ll have more than one rooftop to choose from this Fourth of July to watch fireworks. The LSU Museum of Art is hosting its annual Fourth of July celebration atop the roof at the Shaw Center. The evening includes food and drinks as well as live entertainment and concludes with fireworks over the Mississippi River. The fun begins at 7 p.m.

In addition, L’Auberge Casino & Hotel is hosting a Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza. Those who go can choose to watch the fireworks show from the lawn or the roof. The family-friendly lawn viewing is happening from 7 to 10 p.m. Food and drink will be available for purchase. The rooftop party is from 5 p.m. to midnight. The fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m.

Summer art camp for kids

The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge’s summer art camps for kids have been such a hit that one more camp has been added to the lineup. Children age 6-12 can sign up to learn about famous artists from seasoned and emerging professionals while also creating their own actual art. The new camp is scheduled for June 22-26 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Register or call 344-8558 with questions.
