An expert’s fresh and fun way to display fine china
Who said modern and vintage can’t be in the same sentence? Interior designer Rachel Cannon shows that the two design styles can live together beautifully in this dining room featured in our October issue. As owner and principal interior designer of Rachel Cannon Limited Interiors, Cannon encourages homeowners to show off a fine china collection instead of letting it get rusty in the corner.
In this project for homeowner Leslie St. Blanc, Cannon and her team mounted St. Blanc’s heirloom blue and white plates, which were passed down from her grandmother, on circular, hot pink mats in a gold frame as a way to present the pieces in a fresh and interesting way that ties into the home’s color scheme.
“Now, rather than sitting at the bottom of a drawer in her kitchen, she gets to see them and enjoy them every day,” says Cannon.
