When the full moon rises this Halloween, it will illuminate an unusual scene for this time of year. Fewer trick-or-treaters will pack the sidewalks, reveling will (ideally) be kept to a socially distant minimum, and Baton Rouge’s Halloween parade, organized each year by nonprofit 10/31 Consortium, won’t exactly be the crush of crowds we’ve grown accustomed to. But that doesn’t mean the fun is disappearing completely.

10/31 Consortium, dedicated to building community and camaraderie in Baton Rouge neighborhoods, as well as the organizer of annual candy and costume drives, has flipped the script on its usual Halloween events this year, giving back to the community in innovative new ways more in line with the times. Whether in the form of a virtual cabaret, an at-home fun run or a “parade in reverse” for the kiddos, this All Hallows’ Eve will still carry the spirit of a ghostly good time.
