The beautiful Parker Park combines with St. Francisville’s small-town atmosphere to make for a friendly, laid-back event that has visitors returning year after year.

Nov. 8 & 9, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Plaquemine
Launched to recognize the large, local fiber arts community, this unique festival is in its fourth year. Crafters of all kinds convene to knit, sew, quilt and spin for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy food and drink while watching and learning, and browsing artwork for sale. Demonstrations include lace making, rug hooking and more. The talent-filled weekend begins Friday at Plaquemine’s First United Methodist Church and continues Saturday at Bayou Plaquemine Waterfront Park Pavilion.

For a weekend each October, the quiet town of New Roads brims with activity for its annual Harvest Festival. Venture downtown Friday to enjoy live music featuring Rockin’ Doopsie, carnival rides, the beer garden, and arts and crafts. Saturday starts with the Nut Run at 8:15 a.m. and culminates with a vibrant fireworks show, scheduled for 10 p.m.
