Summer Sounds at St. James
Summertime provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy music, relax and spend quality time with friends. St. James Episcopal Church is giving Baton Rouge residents a chance to do all three at its Summer Sounds musical concert series, which will feature artists performing a range of musical styles, from jazz and zydeco to blues and folk. The concerts will take place each Wednesday evening in July at 7 pm at St. James Church in downtown Baton Rouge.
The lineup begins next Wednesday, July 6, with The Original Tuxedo Jazz Band featuring Gerald French. Next comes versatile performer Roland Guerin and his band on July 13, followed by acclaimed Baton Rouge native Chris Thomas King on July 20 and New Orleans pianist Tom Worrell on July 27.
Following each concert, a reception will be held, during which audience members can meet the performers and buy recordings and other merchandise. While the reception is in full swing, guests can also enjoy the St. James Artists’ Guild Summer Exhibition and Sale.
Individual tickets are $10, and ticket packages are $30 for all four concerts. College students get in free with a valid ID. To see the full list of performers and purchase tickets, visit stjamesbr.org.
