Plant a tree this Saturday during Arbor Day at Burden
In the early lockdown of 2020, many of us found ourselves with more time on our hands, taking the extra hours to explore nature and pick up new hobbies. Perhaps you or a loved one sparked up an interest in gardening and the outdoors. If so, then this weekend’s annual Arbor Day with the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens at Burden is right up your alley.
This free event on January 22 lasts from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be tree climbing, a scavenger hunt and a chance to meet Smokey Bear. To help restore the Burden Woods after Hurricane Gustav, you can purchase your very own tree and track its growth using GPS coordinates. Native trees can be purchased for $15.
Masks and social distancing are required.
